Configure vCloud Automation Center as the cloud provider, create a deployment environment and application policy, and create and map a cloud template - Part21

1. Create a Cloud Provider
You log in to the Web interface of VMware vCloud® Application Director™ and map the VMware
vCloud® Automation Center™ instance as the cloud provider.
In Google Chrome, go to Darwin_user_login_URL. > Log in as user tenant-admin@vclass.local with the password as assigned. The Application Director page appears. > Click Applications. > Click Cloud Providers. > Click Create a Cloud Provider. The New Cloud Provider page appears. Name the new cloud provider vClass Cloud. > From the Cloud Provider Type drop-down menu, select vCAC 6.0. > Verify that the vCAC Infrastructure IP/Host Name/URLtext box contains https://
iaasXX.vclass.local. > In the User Name text box, type tenant-admin@vclass.local. > In the Password text box, type as assigned. > Click Validate Connection. A green check mark appears next to Validate Connection.



2. Create a Cloud Template
You map the CentOS template that you created in vCloud Automation Center to an Application
Director cloud template.
Click + New next to Templates. > Select the Cent_OS_63_AppD check box. > Click OK. > In the upper-right corner, click Save.

3. Create a Deployment Environment
You select the vClass cloud as your deployment environment. You name the deployment
environment and select a reservation policy.
From the main menu, select Deployment Environments. The main menu is a dynamic drop-down menu that is in the upper-middle area of the page with a cloud icon next to it. > Select Create a Deployment Environment. > Name the new deployment vClass Deployment. > Select vClass Cloud as the cloud provider. > Next to Reservation Policy, click Select. > Select from the list of reservation policies. > Select Mid Range Compute. > Click OK. > Click Save.





4. Create an Application Policy Instance
You create a policy that creates a maximum memory allotment policy. You test an application for
compliance with this policy when the application is deployed. You name the policy and assign
attributes to it. You save the policy for future use.
Click Policy Instances. > Click the + New icon next to Policy Instances.The New Policy Instance page appears. > Name the new policy Memory Allotment Policy. > From the Policy drop-down menu, select Memory Policy. > From the Version drop-down menu, select 1.0.0. Properties and Actions are populated. In the Properties pane, next to max_mem_mb and under Value, type 512.
This value replaces the existing value. > In the Actions pane, select the script under Script.
The scan script is displayed. Become familiar with the JavaScript script that handles the scan for compliance. > Click Close. > Click Save.


5. Map Logical Templates to Cloud Templates
You navigate to logical templates and map CentOS to the cloud template that you created.
From the main menu, select Logical Templates. The Logical Templates page appears. > Click CentOS63 32bit. > In Logical Template Versions, click version 1.0.0. The CentOS63 32bit v1.0.0 page appears. > Click the Edit icon. > In the Cloud Template Mapping pane, click the + New icon. > Under Cloud Provider Name, select vClass Cloud. > Under Cloud Template, select CentOS_63_AppD. > Click Save.
